Inactivity and an unhealthy diet can cause high cholesterol. Genetics can play a role too. Unfortunately there are no signs or symptoms to know whether you have high cholesterol. The only way to tell is by having a blood test performed by your doctor.
We all know that cholesterol plays a major role in cardiovascular disease. People should aim for their total cholesterol to be less than 200mg. For those with cholesterol between 200mg and 239mg they are considered to be borderline high risk. 240mg and higher is high risk. Other numbers to watch are your LDL and HDL cholesterol levels. You want your LDL number to be low (lower than 70mg is best for people at high risk of developing heart disease). You want your HDL cholesterol to be high (60mg and higher is optimal). Triglycerides is another important factor to watch. The optimal number for triglycerides is below 150.

So whether you have been diagnosed with high cholesterol or not, you realize that it is important to control your cholesterol so that it is always within acceptable limits. So you find that you’re interested in learning about minerals that promote cholesterol health, minerals such as like selenium, copper, zinc, chromium, calcium.
